We are proud to announce the Quest board for 2019-2020 ! The most diverse board yet is ready to take on the challenges and responsibilities of coordinating the efforts to improve the quality of education of the Faculty of Business and Economics. They introduce themselves here:

Ruben van Loon – Chairman

My name is Ruben van Loon, I come from a small town close to Amsterdam called Nigtevecht. I am currently in my third year of Econometrics and Operations Research, since the beginning of my studies, I have been a Year Representative. As a Year Representative, I realized the opportunity Quest provides and joined the board. Apart from being a Year Representative, I am a member of Vesting and Albertus. In Vesting, I have organised the Freshmen Symposium 2019.

In my spare time I like to do sports, listen to music and hanging out with friends. I also watch a lot of UFC, kickboxing and NBA. As for music, I like to listen to DnB and new funk/jazz.

In the upcoming year, I hope to raise more awareness for Quest and therefore increase the quality of education within the faculty. Furthermore, I am very excited to work together with the new Board next year!

Amina Abushaaban – Treasurer

My name is Amina Abushaaban and I am a second-year Economics and Business Economics student. I am honored to introduce myself as the Treasurer on the Quest board for 2019-2020.
I am nineteen years old and I was born and raised in Italy. I also have some Arab background from my father’s side.

Last year, I was a Quest year representative where I learned the importance of a high quality education, and this experience led me to apply for a board position.
This year, I am focused on developing my technical and social skills in a diverse team as I would love to work in an international environment in the future. I’m sure a lot of the knowledge I will learn during this board year will benefit me professionally later on.

Listening to students is an easy and efficient way to facilitate the improvement of the quality of education and therefore, the reputation of our institution. I strongly believe it’s necessary to take into consideration students’ interests and needs, as well as creating a sense of belonging to the faculty. And I hope to contribute to this,

I look forward to working together with my fellow board members and making this year a memorable year!

Helena Klein – Internal and External Affairs

My name is Helena Klein. I am a second year Business Administration student following the Business & Management track. I grew up in Zwolle, which is about an hour by train from Groningen. In my spare time I like to watch series, hangout with friends and play sports. I like to join different group lessons and try out different sports. Last year for example, I started playing tennis.

The past year I have been a year representative. I discovered how much the opinions of students are valued and decided to broaden my Quest experience by applying for the Quest board 2019 – 2020.

I am looking forward to develop my personal skills as the internal and external affairs officer of the Quest. But most of all, I’m excited to try my best to make the Quest a well-known association and make students aware of the possibilities there are of making their education better.

John Malkoun – Marketing

Hey. I’m John. I was born 25 years ago in Beirut, Lebanon and speak Arabic, French, English and Spanish. I value cultural differences, integration and equal rights for everyone.
Starting September 2019, I am enrolled in the MSc in Marketing Intelligence and part of the FEB Career Services team.
On my free time, I play guitar, read, watch movies or chill in my circle of friends. I also enjoy discovering new places and meeting new people.

In joining the Quest board of 2019-20, I hope to contribute in the efforts made to improve the quality of education at the University of Groningen and maintaining its belonging to one of the top 100 universities in the world. I wish to do so by strengthening students’ voices and increasing their participation in the continuous improvement of the different programs. I am also looking forward to apply directly the knowledge and experience I gathered in my past as a student civil rights activist and present as a master in marketing student.

I am grateful for the opportunity the RUG has given me and I am looking forward to being part of the Quest team and give back to the university and my fellow students.
